The research of the Institute will be focussed on the following key themes:

Resource and sustainability modelling, including material flow analysis, ecological footprinting, carbon accounting and geographical information systems;
Development of decision support tools and techniques to facilitate and optimise decision making;
Industrial symbiosis and whole-systems analysis; and
Linking policy development and decision making across interdisciplinary boundaries
